WHAT WE’LL DO

Day 1: Chiang Rai Exploration

7:00 | 7:30AM: Your journey begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Chiang Mai. Enjoy a scenic drive through the mountains as you head toward Chiang Rai. We will stop for a short break at Mae Kachan Hot Springs or Doi Chaang Caffe if you wish.

Wat Saeng Kaew Photiyan: Experience a peaceful, local atmosphere at this stunning temple known for its massive white Buddha and riverside location.

White Temple (Wat Rong Khun)
One of Thailand’s most iconic landmarks, known for its unique white design and symbolic artwork representing spiritual enlightenment.

Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten)
A vibrant temple featuring deep blue tones and intricate golden details.

Wat Huay Pla Kang (Big Buddha)
Visit the towering statue of Guanyin and enjoy panoramic views from the top.

Lalitta Cafe: Step into a “fairytale forest” for a nice cooling drink and capture beautiful Instagram-able photos, surrounded by mist, waterfalls, and tropical flowers before ending your tour in Chiang Rai.

Day 2: Mountain Plantation, Ancient Town & Border Experience

House Of Opium Museum
This museum offers a more compact and local feel, focusing on a vast private collection of opium related stories, antiques and hill tribe culture.  

Chiang Saen Historic Park
Explore the ruins of the ancient Lanna capital. Key sites include Wat Pa Sak known for its well preserves 12.5 meter stupa and Wat Phra That Chedi Luang.

Phra That Doi Pu
Located on a hill just before the main Golden Triangle viewpoint, this 8th century temple offers some of the most panoramic views of the Mekong River and the tri border area. 

Mekong River Boat Ride
You can charter a long-tailed boat from Sop Ruak for a cruise along the borders of all 3 countries or even stop at Don Sao island in Laos to browse its local marketplace and cheap souvenirs. 

Don Sao Island, Laos: Enjoy a unique stop on Laos to explore the local market for Laotian souvenirs and handicraft. (no visa required).

Return to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai or complimentary drop-off at Chiang Rai Airport. The choice is yours!

Pick up/drop off at hotels and Airbnb condos in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai within a 5 km radius of city centers. For further districts such as Mae Rim, there will be a small fee.  

The duration is about 12 hours. If it feels hectic for you, skip a stop and stay longer at an attraction. Best is to arrive back in Chiang Mai about 8:00PM in time for dinner.

Travel time just under 3 hours each way. Brief stop at Mae Kachan Hot Springs or Doi Chaang Caffe along the way.

Lunch is not included, allowing you the flexibility for meal options. Your guide can recommend excellent and affordable local spots whenever you feel hungry.

Visiting the temple's ground is free, but to enter the building main hall, there is an entry fee of THB200/Adult including Cave of Art attraction. 

For a private tour of 1-4 people, we typically utilize 4-wheel drive SUV and 7-seater MPV. Toyota Commuter VIP Minivan for  group from 5-9 people. 

Keeping groups small (up to 9 people) ensures you receive individual attention from your guide and flexibility to adjust the itinerary without the logistical delays compare to larger bus tours.

Long-tailed boat cruise at Mekong River has different sizes of boats starting from THB 300 for shared boats. I recommend private charter averaging about THB 1000-2000. Check price from boat operators and decide. Guide will help negotiate the price and accompany you in the boat.  

To dock at Don Sao island, Laos from your private charter boat, bring along passport! There is an island visit + boat landing fee of THB 200/person by Port Authority Of Laos.Â
